1:1 Behaviour Consultations

Clear guidance for complex dogs — without judgement, pressure, or guesswork

Who this is for

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or second-guessing every decision with your dog, this consult is for you.

You might be dealing with:

  • reactivity, aggression, or guarding

  • shutdown, avoidance, or “nothing works” dogs

  • sudden behaviour changes

  • fear around visitors, dogs, handling, or environments

  • conflicting advice from trainers, vets, or the internet

Or you may simply want clarity before things escalate further.

This is not a generic training call.

It’s a proper behavioural discussion — tailored to your dog, your situation, and your capacity.

What this consult actually is (and isn’t)

This IS:

  • A focused, 1:1 behavioural consultation

  • Honest assessment based on real-world experience

  • Clear priorities (what matters now vs later)

  • Practical next steps you can actually implement

  • A space where you don’t have to defend or explain yourself

This is NOT:

  • A judgement of you or your dog

  • A one-size-fits-all protocol

  • A commitment to ongoing training

  • A quick fix or “magic technique”

The goal is clarity, not dependency.

How it works

  • 📞 Consults take place by phone

  • ⏱️ Duration: 30-45 minutes

  • 📹 You’re welcome to send footage beforehand (optional)

  • 📍 Location-independent — attend from anywhere in the world

I intentionally limit the number of consults I take each week, so every case gets proper time and attention.

What you’ll leave with

By the end of the call, you should be able to say:

  • “I understand why this is happening”

  • “I know what to focus on first”

  • “I feel calmer and more confident handling this”

  • “I have a plan that fits my dog and my life”

Sometimes that plan includes training.

Sometimes it includes management, lifestyle changes, or reassurance that you’re already doing more right than you realise.

Who I am

My name is Claire Lawrence and I’ve worked with dogs displaying a wide range of behavioural challenges for almost 12 years now — from reactivity and guarding to shutdown, fear, and high arousal.

My approach is:

  • evidence-informed

  • experience-led

  • realistic for real people with real lives

I don’t believe in forcing dogs — or owners — into boxes that don’t fit.

Important boundaries (please read)

  • This consult is advice and guidance, not a guarantee of outcome

  • I do not offer emergency services

  • This call is most effective when you’re open to honest discussion

If you’re looking for validation only, this may not be the right fit.

If you’re looking for clarity, it likely is.

Availability & booking

I offer a limited number of consults each week.

If there are no slots available, booking will reopen every new month

Still unsure?

If you’re on the fence, ask yourself this:

“Would clarity right now reduce my stress — even if nothing else changed immediately?”

If the answer is yes, this consult will be worth it.

FAQ’S

How long is the consult?

Consults last 30-45 minutes.
This gives enough time to properly understand your dog, your situation, and what actually matters — without rushing or information overload.

Is this a phone call or a video call?

Consults can be done by phone, depending on what works best for you. If you have footage you’d like me to see, you can send these over to our email or social media before and is usually helpful, but it’s not required.

Can I send videos before the call?

Yes. You’re welcome to send short, relevant clips ahead of the consult.

Will this fix my dog’s behaviour in one call?

No — and anyone promising that should be questioned.

What this consult does is:

  • give you clarity

  • help you understand why things are happening

  • show you what to focus on first (and what can wait)

For many people, that clarity alone reduces stress immediately.

Do I have to book ongoing training after this?

No. There is no obligation to continue working with me after the consult.

Some people book follow-up support as full reactivity support is often ongoing. Others take what they learn and implement it independently.

The choice is yours.

What if my dog is aggressive or has bitten?

You’re still welcome to book.

I regularly speak to owners dealing with:

  • aggression

  • guarding

  • high-risk or unpredictable behaviour

  • shutdown or extreme fear

The consult is a safe, non-judgemental space to talk honestly about what’s going on.

Is this suitable for puppies or “non-reactive” dogs?

Yes.
Consults aren’t only for crisis cases — they’re also useful for:

  • early warning signs

  • sudden changes in behaviour

  • preventing issues from escalating

What if I’m not sure this is the right step?

That’s completely normal.

If you’re unsure, ask yourself:

“Would having clarity right now reduce my stress, even if nothing else changed immediately?”

If the answer is yes, this consult is likely a good fit.

What happens after I book?

Once booked, you’ll receive:

  • confirmation of your time slot

  • details on how to join the call (just answer your phone at the designated time)

  • optional instructions for sending footage beforehand

Please make sure you’re in a quiet space and able to speak freely during the call.

What is your cancellation policy?

Because consult slots are limited:

  • Reschedules must be made at least 48 hours, in advance

  • We have a no cancellations policy, so you can reschedule your booking, but not refunded.

This ensures availability stays fair for everyone.

Is this suitable if I’m feeling overwhelmed or emotional?

Yes — and you’re not alone in that.

You don’t need to be calm, confident, or “have it together” to book a consult. You just need to be willing to talk honestly.
