The Reactive Dog Recovery Program

A Reality-Based Program for Clarity, Safety, and Ethical Ownership of Your Dog

Stop Fighting Instinct. Start Living With It.

A 90-Day Reality-Based Program for Reactive Dog Owners Who Want Control, Safety & Peace of Mind

We've provided two options to join. Either pay in full or a payment plan.

The Reactive Dog Recovery Program

A 90-day transformation for devoted dog owners living in the reality no one prepares you for.

If you’re here, it’s probably not because you don’t love your dog enough.

It’s because you’ve tried and you’re tired.

You’ve adjusted routes.
Scanned streets before opening the door.
Rehearsed what you’ll do if another dog appears.
You’ve carried the weight of other people’s judgement (and your own)

And, somewhere along the way, walking your dog stopped feeling simple.

It started feeling heavy.

Not because your dog is ‘bad’.
Not because you’re failing.
But, because you’re living with instincts most training advice doesn’t address.

You came to The Dark Side of Dogs webinar because a part of you was searching for something different.

Not quick fixes.
Not more pressure.
But, a way forward that actually makes sense.

A lighter version of dog ownership where you can:

• Walk without your stomach dropping every time you see another dog
• Feel prepared instead of on edge
• Understand what your dog is doing instead of constantly reacting to it
• Be proud of the progress, even when things aren’t perfect

Where you move from managing chaos…
to building stability.

From fear…
to clarity.

From surviving walks…
to sharing them again.

If that’s the shift you’re looking for, this page matters.

Because the next 90 days don’t change your dog overnight or offer false promises.
They change how the two of you move through the world together.

And that changes everything.

👉 12 weeks
👉 Practical weekly guidance
👉 Support, drills, checklists, and live teaching
👉 Designed to replace confusion with applied skill

Starts March 12th, 2026

You came to The Dark Side of Dogs because you know there’s a real reason your dog behaves the way they do.

You’re tired of:

❌ Sugar-coating the struggle
❌ Feeling misunderstood by trainers, family and friends
❌ Temporary ideas that fade as soon as you step outside
❌ Advice that ignores basic instinct and then blames the dog

This isn’t your fault.

It’s the misinformation gap between traditional training and how reactive dogs really work

Why Most Reactive Dog Advice Fails

Most programs chase behaviours without understanding the engine behind them. Instincts, thresholds, drive, predation, and survival responses that never just go away.

Those lessons aren’t a problem to fix. They’re a reality to navigate.

And without a real framework, you’ll:

🚫 Repeat the same mistakes
🚫 Still feel unsafe on walks
🚫 Lose confidence in your decisions
🚫 Watch your dog get triggered over and over again

That’s where the Reactive Dog Recovery Program is different.

Who This Program Is For

This program is for you if you:

✔ Have a dog labelled reactive, aggressive, intense or unpredictable
✔ Want real, repeatable results. Not hype.
✔ Are ready to manage things properly, instead of pretending or covering problems up
✔ Accept that instinct doesn’t disappear and that it’s harnessed and managed
✔ Need an ethical, grounded approach that lasts. Not shortcuts or false promises

🙅‍♂️ This is NOT for you if:

✘ You want a magic cure
✘ You think love alone is enough
✘ You believe all instincts can be erased or corrected out

What You Get: The 90-Day Recovery System

This isn’t a collection of tips.

It’s a structured bridge from insight → clarity → capability — designed specifically for instinct-driven behaviour like reactivity, predation and resource guarding.

Each week inside the program follows the same transformation pathway:

You see it.
You understand it.
You apply it.

Because real change happens when knowledge becomes decision-making.

📌 Weekly Deep-Dive Lessons (Three Layers)

Every week you receive three intensive lessons:

Real Training Demonstrations
Watch real decision-making in real environments, not polished perfection, but the process that creates progress.

Behaviour Deep Dives
Clear explanations of the behaviours you’re living with. Predation, Guarding, Frustration, Targeting patterns and Nervous system load, so that your dog’s behaviour finally makes sense.

Implementation & Handler Coaching
Exactly what to focus on that week, what to practice, what to avoid, and how to measure progress without second-guessing yourself.

This is where understanding turns into capability.

📌 Personal Assessment Call (Limited Spaces)

A 30-minute 1:1 assessment with Claire to review your dog’s patterns, environment and current challenges, so you’re not applying generic advice to a specific situation.

You leave with initial direction, not more confusion.

📌 Guided Exercises & Behaviour Building Drills

Practical work you can apply on walks, at home and in public spaces, designed to build stability rather than chase perfection.

Small shifts. Repeated consistently. Real change.

📌 Phase-Specific Resources & PDFs

Clear checklists, tracking tools and reference guides that remove guesswork and make progress predictable, especially during the messy middle where most owners feel stuck.

📌 Weekly Group Coaching & Community Support

You’re not left to figure this out alone.

Each week we meet live to review progress, troubleshoot challenges, and help you make better decisions in real time, alongside owners navigating the same reality.

Support without judgement. Guidance without pressure.

📌 Accountability & Safety Frameworks

Because this work isn’t just about behaviour, it’s about wellbeing.

You’ll learn how to reduce risk, prevent escalation, and create safer outcomes for both dog and human while progress unfolds.

What You’ll Walk Away With

This program doesn’t promise a ‘fixed dog.’

It builds a capable owner.

One who:

✅ Recognises patterns before reactions escalate
✅ Makes calmer, safer decisions under pressure
✅ Creates opportunity instead of constantly managing crisis
✅ Experiences fuller walks and less anticipatory fear
✅ Reduces near-misses while building real trust
✅ Understands what their dog needs, not just what to stop

Your dog will learn but, the real shift is this:

You stop reacting to behaviour…
and start guiding it.

And that changes the relationship completely.

About Claire

I didn’t learn about instinct-driven dogs just from textbooks or courses.

I learned by living with them.

For years, I’ve shared my home with high-drive working terriers, German Shepherd and guardian types,
intense working-line crosses, and the kinds of dogs people quietly label as too much.

Predation.
Resource guarding.
Frustration-based reactivity.
Hyper-vigilance.
Shut-down behaviour.
Explosive behaviour.

I’ve had it all!

Not theory, but day in, day out, lived reality.

Before building Reactive Dog Training, I worked professionally handling operational detection dogs.
Dogs bred for drive, focus, power and intensity. I’ve seen firsthand what happens when instinct is understood…
and what happens when it’s ignored.

And, here’s what most people won’t say out loud:

A lot of behaviour advice starts in the wrong place.

It assumes dogs are blank slates.
It assumes behaviour is taught, not inherited.
It assumes if you just train harder, everything will fall into place.

But, when you live with a dog whose genetics were designed for guarding, chasing, targeting or controlling
livestock, you quickly realise this isn’t about obedience.

It’s about biology.

Over the past decade, I’ve worked with thousands of owners struggling with reactive, high-drive, and instinct-heavy dogs. The common thread isn’t that they’re bad dogs or owners.

It’s that no one explained properly, what they were actually living with.

My work now focuses on helping owners understand:

• The evolutionary roots of their dog’s behaviour
• How predation and play overlap
• Why resource guarding isn’t random
• How high-drive frustration builds
• And how to build stability without suppressing instinct

This isn’t about quick fixes.
It isn’t about dominance.
And it isn’t about having perfect or robotic dogs.

It’s about understanding the darker side of canine nature and learning how to live with it safely and confidently.

If you’re here, chances are you don’t have an easy dog.

And neither did I.

That’s exactly why this work matters and it’s engrained into who I am as a person and professional trainer and rehabilitation specialist.

What You’ll Learn: The 12-Module Framework

Each module is grounded in the principles from Claire’s book, The Dark Side of Dogs.

This is not a collection of tips. It’s structured progression that moves you from understanding → responsibility → confident decision-making.

Week One: Functional Aggression — More Than “Bad Behaviour”

You’ll learn why aggression is often purposeful, adaptive, and functional. Not a fault.
This module reframes behaviour, so that you stop reacting emotionally and start assessing risk accurately.

You’ll understand:

Why aggression exists in dogs

When behaviour is serving a function

How mislabelling behaviour leads to unsafe decisions

Week Two: Defensive vs Offensive Aggression

Not all aggression is the same and treating it as such is dangerous.

You’ll learn:

How to distinguish defensive from offensive responses

Why the difference matters for management and safety

How misreading intent escalates situations unnecessarily

Week Three: Fear Biting, Resource Guarding & Territorial Violence

These are some of the most misunderstood behaviours in dogs.

You’ll learn:

What fear-based aggression really looks like

Why resource guarding is instinctive, not dominance or stubborn

How territory and perceived threat influence behaviour patterns

Week Four: Breed-Specific Traits

Ignoring genetics doesn’t make them disappear.

You’ll learn:

How selective breeding shapes behaviour

Why certain traits show up under pressure

How to work with breed tendencies, rather than against them

Week Five: Human Failures

This is uncomfortable… but necessary.

You’ll learn:

Where human decisions contribute to escalation

How misunderstanding, denial and avoidance play a role

How to take responsibility without blame or shame

Week Six: Training Myths That Set Dogs (and People) Up to Fail

Popular advice isn’t always safe advice.

You’ll learn:

Which common training narratives are misleading

Why “positive vs aversive” debates often miss the point

How oversimplified methods leave owners unprepared

Week Seven: Ignoring the Red Flags

Most serious incidents are preceded by warning signs.

You’ll learn:

What early red flags actually look like

Why they’re often dismissed or normalised

How to intervene before behaviour escalates

Week Eight: The Cost of Denial

Denial doesn’t protect dogs or people.

You’ll learn:

How denial develops in owners and professionals alike

The emotional and practical consequences of avoidance

Why honesty is a form of care, not cruelty

Week Nine: Managing High-Risk Dogs

Not every situation is about training. Many are about management.

You’ll learn:

What ethical, realistic management looks like

How to reduce risk without constant fear

Why safety is a skill, not a failure

Week Ten: Not Every Dog Can Be “Fixed” And Why That’s OK

This module challenges one of the most harmful narratives in dog training.

You’ll learn:

Why “fixing” is the wrong goal for some dogs

How to redefine success responsibly

How acceptance can lead to better outcomes

Week Eleven: Ethical Decisions

Hard choices don’t make you a bad owner.

You’ll learn:

How to assess quality of life honestly

What ethical responsibility really means

How to make decisions rooted in welfare, not guilt

Week Twelve: Building a New Culture

This is about changing the conversation and it’s about starting with you.

You’ll learn:

How to move away from shame-based dog ownership

Why realism creates safer communities

How informed owners raise the standard for everyone

The Outcome

By the end of this program, you won’t just know more.

You’ll think differently.

You’ll assess situations more clearly.

You’ll make calmer, safer, more ethical decisions for your dog and for the people around you.

Common Questions (Answered Honestly)

“But what if my dog is already trained?”

This program doesn’t undo previous work.
It builds on it.

Many dogs have learned behaviours, cues, and routines, but that isn’t the same as understanding why behaviour shows up under pressure.

This program focuses on:

  • decision-making under stress

  • instinct-driven responses

  • and what to do when training alone stops holding

If you’ve already put time in, you won’t be starting again. You’ll be refining and stabilising what you’ve built.

“What if we’ve already tried everything?”

I hear this a lot and I say this with respect.

Most owners haven’t tried everything.

They’ve tried many things, often inconsistently, under stress, and without a framework designed for instinct-led behaviour.

High-drive, reactive dogs don’t change in four weeks.
And neither do the habits, timing, and judgement required to manage them safely.

That’s why this program is three months long:

  • long enough for patterns to shift

  • long enough for learning to settle

  • long enough for you to build confidence that holds under pressure

Short programs create hope, not stability.

This one is built for lasting change.

“But will it actually work?”

This program isn’t about creating a “perfect” dog.
And it’s not about exposing your dog to everything all at once.

It’s about:

  • reducing volatility

  • increasing predictability

  • and building outcomes you can rely on, repeatedly

Stability is built gradually and when it’s done properly, it compounds.

I’ve taken dogs who couldn’t cope with basic daily life and helped them reach a point where:

  • guests could enter the home safely

  • group walks with unknown dogs were possible

  • resources could be enjoyed without conflict

Even in serious cases, meaningful improvement is possible when expectations are realistic and the approach is honest.

The Reality

This isn’t about miracles.
It’s about better, safer, more predictable outcomes and a dog who can cope with more of the world over time.

And just as importantly, an owner who knows what they’re doing and why.

Stop reacting to behaviour.
Start recovering from it.

Your dog isn’t broken.

This is the program that finally makes sense of it
